Onsiter VMS easy guide: How to request contractors from vendors

When you use the Onsiter VMS, you won’t need to spend hours searching other websites for best IT contractor for your project.

Besides the 20,000 IT independent contractors who are signed up on Onsiter, you’ll be able to connect with thousands of other vendors through the Vendor Universe feature. You’ll also be able to reach out to your preferred vendors — all without leaving Onsiter.

The Vendor Universe is a search engine that allows you to find every relevant consulting firm there is in your area. You will be able to contact them directly to request the expert you need for your assignment.

In this post, we’ll show you how to request contractors from the Vendor universe as well as your preferred vendors.

Before you make your request, create your assignment

Before you can make your request, you will need to create your assignment on the platform. This will create the assignment page for you which will contain all the necessary information that the contractors need to know. Be as specific as possible to attract the right candidates and avoid irrelevant applications.

Making your request through the Vendor Universe

Once you’ve completed providing the details for your assignment, you will come to the following screen. Your assignment will automatically be published on the Onsiter marketplace. Contractors who are registered on Onsiter will be able to view and apply to your assignment.

To request contractors for your assignment from all relevant vendors in your preferred geographical area, click on the Send button to the right of the Vendor Universe option.

Enter the relevant information in the search bar on the left and click Search.

The results will display vendors with the relevant experts. You will have some vendor information, their website link and contact information in case you want more details or if you want to contact them directly.

Select up to 6 vendors and click Continue to assignment selection. Then select the relevant assignment and click Create message.

You will come to a messaging page with a templated message which you can add to or adjust. Click Review and send.

On the review page, read through your message carefully. If you’d like to edit your message, click Previous step. Otherwise, click Send requisition to send your message to the vendors you selected.

To send your message to more than 6 vendors, repeat the process.

Requesting contractors from your preferred vendors

Preferred vendors are those you have worked with before and would like to work with again. You can add your preferred vendors to the Onsiter VMS by clicking on Vendors in the top menu.

After you’ve added all your preferred vendors, you can easily request contractors from them in the future.

To request contractors from your preferred vendors, click on the Send button to the right of the Preferred Vendor option.

Select the relevant list, then create your message.

Once again you will come to a messaging page with a templated message. Add to or adjust the messaging, then click Review and send. Click Send requisition to send your message to the vendors you selected.
